Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) Specialist Join a fast-growing leader in safety supply distribution for life sciences, utilities, and other critical industries!
ABOUT THE ROLE Within the VMI Specialist position, activities will include product receiving, stocking, product disbursement, inventory delivery via company truck, and other basic inventory management activities. This position will utilize the functionality of systems and applications such as MS Excel, Epicor Prophet 21 (P21), and the Microsoft Office suite. This is a combination of material handling and inventory management, i.e., lifting and moving boxes of product (20-50 lbs.) for customer inventory restocking in addition to performing some inventory analysis.
LOCATION We work on-site from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with 1-3 hours overtime possible per week. The VMI Specialist will travel by company vehicle or personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement) to customer locations. PAY RATE: To be discussed in the interview with Human Resources. This is a full-time/regular job opportunity (40 hours/week). Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Follow well-defined procedures as outlined by best practices, SOPs, and work instructions.
•Make independent decisions and utilize available resources to meet customer requirements.
•Analyze, maintain, and reconcile various customer and Quest reports to ensure all requirements are met.
•Communicate with the supervisor regarding any customer issues or potential problems.
•Maintain knowledge of new policies and enhancements of Quest and its products and services.
•Listen to customer concerns, effectively diffuse dissatisfaction, troubleshoot, and quickly identify a course of action with a goal of first call resolution within established turnaround times.
•Collaborate effectively with a diverse cross-functional team.
•Make on-site program replenishments and disbursements.
•Proactively recommend customer solutions to the leadership team.
•Maintain vending machine software content; monitor and maintain inventory levels within vending solutions and replenish stock at customer site(s).
•Monitor weekly vending transaction reports and conduct biweekly cycle counts on inventory to ensure accuracy.
•Identify and troubleshoot issues with the vending machines/counts that may arise.
•Perform stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirements.
•Deliver direct shipment orders to end users; perform deliveries as required.
• Provide activity reports and customer meeting notes to the leadership team as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
•Effective communication skills and customer focus, including always maintaining a professional appearance
•Ability to reconcile various reports to ensure customer requirements are met
•Time management and organization skills to effectively manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
•Ability to use a computer and possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to deal with various levels of personnel at the customer site WORK
CONDITIONS:
•Work independently at customer locations; in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, and storage locations; operation of various pallet jacks and dollies; also, in an office environment with standard office equipment such as a personal computer or laptop and smartphone
•Stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time
•Bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull daily; occasionally up to 60 lbs.
•Ability to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks
•Depending on the work area, personal protective equipment may be required, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, face masks, hairnets, safety gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and/or bump hats.
