MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

       

JOB DESCRIPTION

Seeking a skilled and experienced General Maintenance Technician to support maintenance operations at our wood veneer manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks on manufacturing machinery, production equipment, and building systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic machinery/systems, the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, and the ability to work independently in an industrial environment.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime and supporting production reliability.




Duties and Responsibilities

•    Inspect production machinery, equipment, and facility systems to identify maintenance issues, wear, or potential failures.

•    Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and facility-related issues to determine root cause and implement effective solutions.

•    Perform maintenance and repair on manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to presses, rollers, material handling equipment, guards, and auxiliary production systems.

•    Diagnose and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems

•    Support maintenance of manufacturing-related systems such as compressed air lines, dust collection components, guards, and other production-support infrastructure.

•    Perform general repairs and maintenance that do not require outside licensed technicians

•    Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems.

•    Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities as required.

•    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

•    Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.

Required Skills and Abilities

•    Strong working knowledge of industrial machinery maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

•    Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment in a manufacturing environment.

•    Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

•    Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.

•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks in a production-driven environment.

•    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on equipment reliability and uptime.

•    Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors or senior leadership.

•    Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience

•    High school diploma or equivalent required.

•    3–5 years of maintenance experience required, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or wood products environment.

•    Hands-on experience maintaining industrial machinery with hydraulic and pneumatic systems strongly preferred.

•    Experience supporting production equipment and facility systems strongly preferred.

•    On-the-job training provided for company-specific equipment and processes.

Physical Requirements

•    Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

•    Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or awkward spaces.

•    Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

•    Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime hours will be offered based on company need. Weekend and “off-hour” work may be required.
