Exegistics is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor (Assistant Chief Engineer) for our valued client in the Wichita, KS area.

This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity with excellent benefits and the client is offering relocation assistance.




Pay: Up to $65K




They are open to INDUSTRIAL maintenance professionals with an engineering/mechanical background.

If you have experience in the industrial laundry/linen/uniform industry...that would be a HUGE advantage - but not required.




Assistant Chief Engineer (Maintenance) Major Goals:

This position involves supporting the Maintenance Chief in overseeing maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and implementing preventive maintenance programs. The Assistant Maintenance Chief will collaborate with various departments to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. Additionally, this role includes training and mentoring maintenance staff to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Ultimately, the Assistant Maintenance Chief contributes to the overall success of the manufacturing operations by ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Good communication and coaching skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Leadership experience or training in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Maintenance Chief in planning and executing maintenance schedules for all manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of machinery to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Repair items at floor and ceiling level.
  • Ability to work in non climate controlled environment.
  • Move equipment in need of repair.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Directs training and orientation of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Directs janitorial activities to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Directly supervises 5-6 employees in the maintenance department, and 1 -2 janitors.
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment
  • Secure and control all maintenance tools, equipment and parts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
