Function:

Payroll Specialist and HR Generalist 







Missions:

The Payroll / HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting full-cycle recruitment efforts, and administering key HR programs and projects. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll, HR policies, benefits, and compliance, while also contributing to special projects such as leave management, system implementation, and process improvements.

Activities:

Payroll Administration
  • Process weekly and bi-monthly payroll through Paycor (or similar HRIS/Payroll system such as Paycom), ensuring accuracy in employee records, deductions, tax filings, and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports (quarterly, year-end, W-2s, ACA, etc.).
  • Monitor legislative and compliance updates affecting payroll, benefits, and employment law.
  • Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, and vendor relationships (benefits carriers, 401k providers, etc.).




Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers to coordinate full-cycle recruiting: job postings, resume screening, interviewing, offers, and onboarding.
  • Support employer branding and sourcing strategies to attract talent.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation, I-9 compliance, and employee file setup.




HR Administration & Employee Support
  • Act as first-line contact for employee questions on payroll, benefits, policies, and HR processes.
  • Administer benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, and carrier communications.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in compliance with company policy and legal requirements.




Special Projects & Compliance
  • Lead or support projects such as FMLA/leave management, system implementations, policy updates, and process improvements.
  • Partner with HR leadership on compliance audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.



  1. Serve as HR liaison with temporary staffing agencies and other external partners.




Required job competencies for the position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3–5 years of HR and payroll experience, with Paycor, Paycom, or similar HRIS/payroll system strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll, wage and hour laws, and HR compliance.
  • Experience with recruitment and onboarding in a manufacturing or corporate environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Certifications such as SHRM-CP/PHR or FPC/CPP preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills preferred.
