A Tool Setter is responsible for setting, maintaining, and troubleshooting molds to support production operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with injection mold setups, and the ability to ensure efficient tool changes while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Set up and adjust molds according to production schedules and requirements.
  • Perform mold changes following established procedures, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Clean molds and document any issues encountered.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on molds as needed.
  • Ensure tools are properly aligned, calibrated, and maintained for efficient operation.
  • Perform injection mold changeovers at the press.
  • Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
  • Communicate any tooling deviations or safety concerns to management.
  • Shut down equipment if safety hazards or tooling issues impact quality.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in mold setting, maintenance, or tooling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct mold issues.
  • Proficiency in using grinders, welders, shot blasters, drill presses, and other tool-setting equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead to a height of six feet.
  • Ability to walk/stand for 12-hour shifts as required.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and small components.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, and reach with arms and legs.
  • Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders safely.
  • Strong near vision (corrected to 20/30) for detailed tasks.
Work Schedule:
  • Shift schedule assigned by Tool Room Manager.
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work as needed.
Required PPE:
  • Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beard net (if applicable).
