Exegistics is seeking a Mechanical Project Design Engineer for our valued client in the Louisville / Jeffersontown, KY area.




Schedule: Mon - Fri / 8A - 430P




Pay: Up to $85K (DOE)




This position is a supportive role to the Engineering Manager, and primarily consists of converting 2D AutoCAD designs/drawings into 3D designs utilizing SolidWorks. 




MECHANICAL PROJECT DESIGN ENGINEER                  

                                                                                                                                           

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To design, simulate, and troubleshoot mechanical components, equipment, and systems related to the products designed and manufactured by the Company, such as RF and Microwave Generators and Applicators, Control Cabinets, Conveyors, Ovens, Presses, etc. 




BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Creative / critical thinking, innovation, and advanced problem-solving skills are required.  Must be organized, possess a positive attitude, and thrive in a team environment with excellent communication skills.  Commercial awareness, including understanding of target users / markets are crucial to this role. Duties / requirements include but not limited to the following: 
  • Design, simulation (structural stress analysis / FEA, CG calcs, thermal analysis, etc.), 3D solid modeling, and documentation utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD. 
  • Material selection and understanding of mechanical shielding techniques for electromagnetic shielding required. 
  • Design with product safety, quality, standardization, modularity, serviceability, ergonomics, and internal / external processes in mind. 
  • Detailed drawings for fabrication, machining, and assembly of the above-listed Company products. 
  • Entering BOMs and routers into the Company ERP system (Global Shop). 
  • Awareness and adherence to overall project schedules and priorities. 
  • Assist on-site Production during the fabrication / machining / assembly process. 
  • Facilitating design reviews and release meetings with customers, peers, and on-site manufacturing. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers/vendors to source the best components or systems for the purpose of improving the quality, cost, and delivery of the designed equipment. 




MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 

BSME or equivalent. Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, pneumatics, etc. a plus. 




MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

3-5 years’ experience in the Mechanical Engineering field designing industrial equipment (automation, presses, etc.).
